Plant
Food Co., Inc. is a leader in fertigation of nursery stock. The
basic approach of nursery stock fertigation is to supply the nutrients
to the container by injecting liquid fertilizer into the irrigation
water. While other methods of fertilizer application such as controlled
release fertilizers may supply nutrients to the container, fertigation
allows optimum control of nutrient application rates through ppm
or the electro conductivity (E.C.) method. Nutrient ratios and timing
of nutrient applications are easily adjusted. All essential nutrients,
including micronutrients, can be applied through irrigation water.
Plant Food Company's
"Virginia Tech" formulation 10-4-6 liquid fertilizer is
formulated with Liquid Ammonium Nitrate (LAN). This formulation
provides nitrate nitrogen to allow a quicker nitrogen response in
sterile soilless mixes and helps prevent ammonia toxicity to the
roots of container grown stock from urea based nitrogen. The lower
phosphorous content has been shown to help reduce excessive stretching
of the plant material. Sulfur and high quality EDTA chelated micronutrients
can easily be added into the formulation.
Plant Food Co.,
Inc. has applicator tanks and pump systems available to help you
set up your equipment to provide application of slow release water
insoluble nitrogen (W.I.N.) known as Liqua-Form® or water soluble
slow release nitrogen (S.R.N.) for dormant application of fertilizer
on field stock.
Plant Food Co.,
Inc. also custom formulates N-P-K Liquid Fertilizers for fertigation
through drip irrigation systems.
